Today, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took part in the opening of the exhibition of sports equipment and services, and presentation of the projects to support the school and grassroots sports, which is held in the Parliament. The exhibition is dedicated to the parliamentary hearings on youth in Ukraine: "Young People for a Healthy Lifestyle."
Opening the exhibition, M. Tomenko declared that it demonstrated the present achievements of the sports industry in Ukraine for children, pupils and young people. "Our aim is to change the young generation of ‘beer and computer games´ into the healthy generation leading a healthy lifestyle", he emphasised. M. Tomenko also appreciated the fact that the sports industry in Ukraine launched national projects for grassroots sport and physical culture.
However, the Deputy Chairman called on the central authorities and businesspeople to invest into the renovation and formation of the sport infrastructure. He is convinced that the majority of athletic fields and gym halls in schools are out-of-date. "Iit should be an honour for a People´s Deputy of a local council or even a businessman to provide sport facilities in school or present certain items necessary for the physical training lessons", M. Tomenko admitted.
Valerii Sushkevych, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the Matters of Pensioners, Veterans and Persons with Disabilities, and leaders of the Association of Sport Industry of Ukraine attended the opening. The biggest companies of sport market of Ukraine presented sports articles and services.
